For one I've re-discovered what it feels like to be writing for me again. I think I've lost that along the way. It's nice to just write. No expectations. No fanfare. No giving a niffler's arse about comment count. Just a blank screen, an idea, and the voices in my head. *laughs*

♦ wook77 popped my cherry last Saturday! *laughs* My fandom meet up cherry that is! She's the first fandom person I've ever met in RL and meeting her has put my mind at ease about meeting fandom people in RL. She's quite lovely and I had a ton of fun! We had rootbeer floats, milkshakes and fries while discussing everything under the sun and roaming the mall. We must do it again *nods* :D

♦ weasleywench has generously made a PDF version of Carpe Draconis! Now this was my first novel length fic and it was one of the things that convinced me I could write my own OC novel someday. And although this was started in November of '04, meaning not even a mention of the sixth book (let alone the last) and is littered with a slew of (now) questionable word choices and literary trope, I am still very much in love with it. *laughs* I wrote this story when I was still enchanted by the limitless possibility that fandom afforded me. Hee! I was also an impressionable twenty two year old at the time. *snorts* Hence I bring you the Ice Prince of Slytherin also known as the Slytherin Sex God (remember those days?! *laughs*), oblivious but earnest & brave! Harry, mentor! Snape, scheming! Lucius, loving mom! Narcissa, and manipulative but well-intentioned! Dumbledore. Did I mention sword fights? Perfection for camillily

It was perfect.


Of course, he had an allergic reaction to the roses Potter brought. They were late for their table reservation and had to leave the fancy restaurant. They had to settle for the Leaky, forced to withstand soggy chips and stale beer. The pub ran out of Floo powder and they had to walk in the rain to reach another working one. To top it all off, they were both sprayed liberally in the face with puddle water when a speeding taxi went by.

But all he could remember was this.

Harry’s apologetic face as he frantically banished the roses. Harry’s bright smile when Draco didn’t insist that he use his name to snag them a table. The laughter shared between them as they talked about the past, present, and future in the cramped space of those well worn booths. The feel of Harry’s hand on his that kept the chill of the persistent rain at bay. And the sweetness of the kiss they shared on the rain soaked street.

All he could remember was falling in love.

It was perfect.
